Megohmmeters and Insulation Resistance Testers

An insulation resistance tester, also called a megohmmeter, applies a high DC test voltage to cables, motors and electrical equipment and measures the leakage resistance in megohms. Vicimeter insulation multimeters combine this test with standard multimeter functions, and several models add polarization index (PI) and dielectric absorption ratio (DAR) for insulation diagnosis.
